Time for the next chapter
And then after exactly 8 weeks I was back at the airport… not expecting to be back at the airport so quickly. Well, maybe for trips and weekends away and then come back here again.
But that's not the case now and I'm so glad that I board the plane today and never come back here.

Expectations and reality
It all seemed so good, so nice, such a good match. Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be different.
With that I would like to say that that is also the reason that I have not posted any blogs in recent weeks.
I hope to be able to write nice stories after this.
Without going into too much detail to respect the privacy of the family somewhat, not that they deserve that after all that's happened here but well let me be the wise one and don’t stoop down to their level. The first weeks were fine, we did fun things and had a good time.. but after that the masks fell off and things started to change.
From the first week I already had doubts whether this was the right place for me for several reasons, but of course you don't want to give up right away so you go for it, look at things, talk a lot about certain things to make them better. I also suffered a lot because of a jet lag, it made me sick and therefore I wanted to give myself time to get used to a new environment as soon as I felt better again.
Where the family always tried to give me positive courage, I knew somewhere that it wasn't going to work.
After some circumstances and not being able to get used to this much too quiet environment, I decided on Thursday 27 May that I was done with it. That weekend the family went away for a weekend, I stayed at home and we don't get started about how they left and how the days went after that. In short: the respect was hard to find.
That Friday (May 28) I informed our LCC (Local Childcare Consultant, the contact person and kind of mentor for au pairs and host families who lives in your area) about the situation and requested a rematch. A lot of hassle, I felt misunderstood by the LCC, I had to wait a long time and in the meantime also got a new LCC because the other LCC had stopped immediately due to circumstances.
A happy accident because this new LCC (Krista) was really great, she understood me, told me the situation was not OK at all and did everything she could to help me as soon as possible. That same evening (by now it was already Thursday 3 June) I had an exit meeting and then I officially went into rematch on Friday 4 June, then my profile came back online and I could talk to new families. From then on I had 2 weeks to find a new family, but if i was not able to find a new family during this time I would had to return back to the Netherlands.

It's a match!!!
Before I was officially in rematch I had contact with several families through some Facebook groups, but I also got quite a lot requests on the online page. After about 40 family requests, I officially entered into a match again with a great family on Monday 7 June!
I will tell more about them personally soon! But in short: Father, Mother and 3 girls aged 3, 4 and almost 7 years old. They live in Long Island, New York! An hour from NYC, how cool!!! I've already laughed more with them now than I've done here in 8 weeks, so I'm going there full of positive energy!

Head in the clouds ☁️✈️
I now board the plane to first fly to Seattle and then, after a layover of 1.5 hours, continue to the John F. Kennedy airport in New York.

Oh and a fun fact: last Tuesday I was driving in the car and as usual I also had music on….. suddenly the song Empire State of Mind started to play
Well… if this isn't meant to be!! 😜
I'll talk to you again when I'm on the other side of America!! 👋🏼
Until the next blog!!
Love Kaylee
